I know. My point was that if nobody supports the site, and people move away from it, pretty soon the richness of exchange will disappear totally, there will be no riders, and like Coney Island's Cyclone in the fall, without riders it will shut down.

Actually, I thought that this was a pretty nice discussion. Sort of like the old days.

Dean, I'm sorry to hear of the decline in your lung function.
I'm very sorry as well. It was not my intent to make light of your condition, although it may have come across that way.
It's sad news. And I hope you know that we care.

To being a guest or not? We all know that's a choice we all have and I don't pay any attention to it when looking at who posted.

I just believe, as Rob and others have suggested, if you get value out of it then I think you should support it unless it's financially difficult to pay the minimum. I suppose I feel strongly about supporting organizations that bring you value because I've been on the other side with running sports car clubs for 40+ years. As an example, it gets really old sending out past due notices to members who you know will be the first in line for the free Christmas dinner made possible by dues. I know it's not necessary politically correct to rattle the cage and question why members who can afford a very special expensive sports car think the site that brought us all together isn't worth supporting any more in a small way.

In a bit of irony if I had to pay to visit here, I can think of several reasons why I wouldn't. I no longer own an S2000 being one. Seeing posters like Val taking a break. And, so forth. I think coming here should be fun. From the fun stand point I went a little off the tracks and got serious about the topic of support because I don't understand why its even an issue for the majority of visitors.

I not going to change anyone's mind and I've given my 2-cents worth. Nuff said.

Roller coasters sometimes go up and sometimes go down. But more often than not they go up again.
Yes, but only when there are riders. When not, they shut down.

Jim, since you're moderator I'm assuming you interact with ownership.
Do they "get it" with respect to how crappy the gallery/ photo-hosting is and how annoying it is to actually post an image?

There are a few sub-forums here that are "members only." How about if we make this one the same? Would you then pony up the measly $20 per year? I know I would, since this site has meant more to me than could ever be quantified, and I would miss it and the posters and friends I have met immensely.

Dave - Thanks. I didn't think you were, nor did I take any offense.

Lainey - I'm sending you a PM about some things. I don't want to hijack this thread any further than I already have.
Edit: your inbox must be full. The PM wouldn't go through.

That's because you both are guests. Another reason to pony up the measly $20.
