I think Lainey started an interesting discussion. It pulled out some strong differing opinions. Each member or guest can and will decide on their own if the owners are just a business cynically leaching off the efforts of past owners, or if they are providing a service that relies on a $20 annual contribution from the majority of the members in addition to commercial revenue to ensure a profit that allows the site to stay healthy and ongoing.
Or are they capitalists?
That is not a meant in any political manner.

Well, there is one advantage to being a Gold Member. Today, I got an injection molded licence plate frame in the mail from S2KI.com, completely free of charge, thanking me for being a Gold Member. 
Had to cost them at most $2.50 in materials, labor and postage to ship it ($1.80 was postage) Eat your hearts out, guests!

I was going to post that you have to pay to receive PMs and I see someone already pointed that out.
