Default Marathon Victims and donations

Whenever tragedy happens, fundraising for victims starts. Charitable contributions are a personal thing, and there are so many "charities" our there that aren't what they seem to be. Organizers and fund raisers reap most of the cash, while the ones who need the money get a small percentage. I'm always a little hesitant donating at times like these, as I wonder how much the victims will benefit.

I've been reading/watching some of the interviews with the marathon victims. So many of them are displaying such courage in the face of life changing injuries. Prosthetic limbs are expensive. There is often a 20% co pay on a limb that may cost $50,000.00. You can do the math on that one. Rehab for these victims will last months and cost $$$$$$$$$$. All because some young men decided to plant two bombs.

I was reading about one 38 year old woman who decided amputation gave her a better chance of a normal life. She likes to run, go to Zumba classes and wants to do these things again. It is my hope that she is able to do so, and being a fellow Zumba addict, I felt the need to send a small donation.

Here is the link if anyone else is so inclined.
