Now that my Yanks are on vacation I'll be rooting for the White Sox, they have suffered long enough.
I look for George to make a major overhaul this off season.

So it's the summer of 2002 and I'm sitting along first base at a New Orleans Zephyrs' game. I strike up a conversation with an older local attendee only to find that he used to ump minor league ball. "Oh, you'd be suprised how much the blue controls a game," he quips at one point.
Fast forward to both games Wednesday night. So true. So true. I only caught(pun intended) the end of the A's/ChiSox game. Less obvious and stated to my wife before the announcers picked up on it was the fact that the blue in the Astros/Cardinals game all of a sudden was giving Izzy anything that didn't hit the dirt before crossing homeplate. It sure as heck wasn't there earlier in the game.
Not bitter about a defeat tonight though. I could, however, have a few choice words with Vizcaino about swinging at the first pitch. Izzy had thrown quite a few pitches to that point. to boot, Jose is quite the battler with two strikes. Even if he had recorded that last out as he did anyway, it, coupled with the fact that we've hit the closer well all season, leaves doubt/concern in the pitcher's mind next time out.
It's not a sprint.

I thought Oswalt pitched an excellent game last night. He was so poised and calm. He deserves a lot of credit. Cardinals were basically powerless to do anything against his pitching. Bad calls go both ways. Cardinals couldn't hit. If you can't hit, you can't win games. I hope White Sox wins tonight.

He looked sharp despite not really having his really slow curve. He showed it a couple of times, but nothing like his final start of the season. Either he didn't need it/have it or he's saving it for the next encounter with the Cards(which would really be coy).

As for tonight's game, I have reservations about giving the game to the White Sox, but will do so nonetheless.
As for today's AL game, my heart wants to go with Garcia. We traded him(Halama and one other) to Seattle for Randy Johnson mid-season in '98(think that's the correct year). He had great stuff and can be a cool cat. I hope he handles the big stage flawlessly. But just as the Sox had to win last night to stop the clammering about the undeserved win, the Angels know they need to not let the better team get the momentum. I'm picking the Angels in Gm #4 against my heart.

I am glad Clemens got the win for tonight's game. I am happy for Astros as they won against the Cardinals. Astros pitching is the difference in my opinion. Strong bullpen adds that extra depth to the Astros. Did you see President and Barbara Bush behind the home plate? I know they have been Astros fans forever.
