The Lottery

I've never played the Lottery very much....best winnings are now in my pocket: $2.00
OTOH, the mother of a good friend in Harrisburg was one of the first winners of the Pennsylvania Lottery....must be around 1970. She won $1 million, with only one payout option: $50,000 per year for life/ guaranteed for 20 years. Happily, she's probably now on year #33 and is 95 years old....still sharp as a tack, and sticking the bill to the Gov. every year
Do any of you have interesting "Lottery" stories

One of my clients won quite a few million a few years ago. Winning that much money changed everything. Unfortunately, not all of the change was for the better. Money does funny things.

To be more accurate, I'd say money obtained too easily does funny things......
I know a number of very wealthy people who worked hard for evey dime. They're not that different from most of my other friends in attitude or overall outlook, though they do have some nicer toys.

My mother won a car on a scratch 'n' win card. The uncle of a good friend of mine won a few million on the 649 lottery (you pick 6 numbers out of 49 and if you get 'em all right you win). Odds of winning are about 1 in 13 million.
Edit: btw lottery winnings are tax-free in Canada.

If I were to win that kind of $ (which I never will b/c I don't play the lottery, crappy odds) I would just stash it and go about my daily life.
Spending money is like a drug, it can give you a real boost and if you go out and spend like crazy you can lose perspective. Thus I would take maybe a $50,000 chunk and put the rest in investments. I'd spend the $50,000 on a few overdue fix ups around the house but otherwise keep my hands off it so as to not corrupt myself.
Yeah right, I'd blow it faster than Brewster (I came up with a list of the fastest way to blow $100 million with nothing to show for it just in case)

Are you talking about the Lotto Super 7?
It was at 20 million on Friday, but I saw a sign today saying that it is at 25 million for this Friday, meaning that nobody won last week.
Don't bother buying a ticket though, I'm putting the winner in my pocket either tonight or tomorrow
