I did and it works quite well. You connect your GPS with the USB cable it came with, run the updater and it automatically finds, uploads, and installs updates. It is quite painless.
I did that. The first time I got a message on the updater that it did not complete the update, so I redid it and redid it. It completed twice, but the unit still displayed the incorrect time so I redid it and still have the same problem despite turning the unit on and off and unplugging it each time. I've successfully updated my GPS 5 or 6 times in the past years that I've owned it with no problems. This update is simply not working for some reason. I'm not redoing it again until I hear from Garmin.

I think that is a wise idea, especially after all those tries.

I have the Nuvi 660 and have not received a note yet. I'll check the website later. If an update is availiable then maybe I'll try downloading this weekend.

Got an email from Garmin Tech Support. They suggested I reload my software package which I did. Everything is now copacetic. BTW, it only took about 47 seconds. Good going, Garmin!!

I just used my Garmin Nuvi 660 for the first time in about 2 months and noticed that the time was off one hour. It took a while, but I downloaded WebUpdater software from their website, then downloaded their latest software update (V3.5) which includes a patch for daylight savings time.

Even though I did sign up for email notification, Garmin never told me that a software update was available.

Has anyone used the Garmin "G Start" program? It is supposed to detect when the GPS is connected to your computer, but it never seems to detect mine, even though I can see it in Windows Explorer.

The +1 was playing with the GPS in his new car today, and put in the address of my parents' house. Then we proceeded to go our usual way, which, of course, was not one of the choices. "She" did a pretty good job of picking up on what we did and making adjustments - it was funny.

The funnest thing that happens with ours is when Matt demonstrated it to his Mom, she was quiet for a moment and said "but where's her office?"

I believe the 670 includes maps of Eurpoe. The 680 has an MSN Direct feature allowing you to get more information from the unit if you subscribe.
