I did and it works quite well. You connect your GPS with the USB cable it came with, run the updater and it automatically finds, uploads, and installs updates. It is quite painless.

I think that is a wise idea, especially after all those tries.

I just used my Garmin Nuvi 660 for the first time in about 2 months and noticed that the time was off one hour. It took a while, but I downloaded WebUpdater software from their website, then downloaded their latest software update (V3.5) which includes a patch for daylight savings time.
Even though I did sign up for email notification, Garmin never told me that a software update was available.
Has anyone used the Garmin "G Start" program? It is supposed to detect when the GPS is connected to your computer, but it never seems to detect mine, even though I can see it in Windows Explorer.

The +1 was playing with the GPS in his new car today, and put in the address of my parents' house. Then we proceeded to go our usual way, which, of course, was not one of the choices. "She" did a pretty good job of picking up on what we did and making adjustments - it was funny.

I have the Nuvi 660 and have not received a note yet. I'll check the website later. If an update is availiable then maybe I'll try downloading this weekend.
