Lost with GPS

The nav in my wifes benz drives me nuts sometimes.
it has a hard time understanding offramps. acts as if every ramp is a Y in the road. so a half mile before the ramp it tells you to keep left.
then at the ramp again it tells you to keep left.
on a road where you pass forty or so ramps, it can be rather maddening.
That and where can't figure out what category churches are hidden under.
tough on those out of state weddings and funerals.

Lesson learned. GPS worked so good on my first two trips out of town I thought I could toss out the paper maps. Better not.
Better not is right...
And you all gavce me such grief for not wanting a GPS...

My Garmin StreetPilot 2610 will occasionally be screwy, but for the most part, it works great. I use it all the time when I'm going somewhere new for the first time, and even again and again, for farther away places I've been before. The worst time I had with it was when I came back for Gettysburgh. I plugged it into the rental car, activated the route to the hotel, and she wouldn't talk to me. I could see that I was going the wrong way because the distances to turn were increasing, not decreasing. I finally pulled over, shut it down, and started it up again. I too have been taken to a wrong address before, but I think it's usually operator error, like leaving off the East or West on a street name when it finds the address.
As far as gas stations, it's fairly unreliable. They may update the info on streets, but they are years behind on up-and-operating gas stations. I'd give Garmin about a 60/40 chance of finding gas stations that are actually there. I've learned to not let the tank get too low, on a cross country trip.

The only problem I have with our Garmin C340 is that if you enter an address (as opposed to select one from the POI stored in the unit) it seems to go into deep contemplation, sometimes taking 5 minutes to find the address. I really don't want to sit in the car for five minutes before the unit figures out where I am and how to get where I want to go.
It has only happened a few times, so overall I am still happy with it, but time will tell.

Last time I used my 2610 it informed me that the map data was more than a year old (actually about 3 years old) and needed updating. I'm holding out for the next version of the software that hopefully will run on my Mac as well as Windows.
It had a problem with routing me home from Oregon last year. In Arizona it had me going way south of my route then back north again many miles later. Seems it didn't know that a certain intersection was a through street and was trying to route me about 100 miles out of the way to get "back" to the main highway. I just ignored the GPSR and once I crossed that problematic intersection it recalculated correctly.

I have the Garmin GPS10 (wireless, Bluetooth that uses my Treo 650 as a display) and have found only two errors. The first was trying to get me to turn left into a traffic circle and the other was trying to get me to turn right into a field when the road wnet straight. The rest of the time it has been right on.

Does anyone know what's happened to change MapQuest? It's gone from great to worthless IMHO. I just tried to get directions from the Hyatt in Atlanta (which it says it can't find) to the Georgia Aquarium (which it says it can't find) and I have exact addresses for both locations. It keeps telling me to make a selection when it only lists one choice and it won't accept that choice. ???? Anyone else experiencing this?
