Life is not fair

Thanks again everyone for your comments. I spoke with Cari last night and we will be spending time with her Saturday; she's about 100 miles away. It will take some 10 days for the body to arrive back in the states. That will about the time we plan to go to the Watkins Glen event. On top of that my mother was admitted to the hospital yesterday. I'm taking it day-by-day to see if the Glen trip is still on for us.

This is sad news Dave.....I'm very sorry.
I can relate because our son Ben had to leave his college graduation ceremony on Saturday due to heat exhaustion. It was >90* in the open seating under a bright sun, and we all forgot that he's on a Rx that has heat sensitivity as a side effect. Also a few too many in celebration the night before. He was able to walk to receive his diploma, but was soon led off the platform by an EMT who noticed he was having problems.
He had a session with and then an hour of cold packs and hydration IV in the emergency vehicle stationed nearby. A few hours of sleep and some food, and he was ready to go out to dinner (see family pic in the Odds n Ends thread). But for the grace of God and quick EMT attention, Ben could have had a much worse outcome....

That is really horrible; hopefully this loss can be a reminder for everyone in the military that the enemy does not always plant bombs. Any loss of life in Iraq of our soldiers makes me sad.
I can remember how N.F.L. lineman Corey Stringer

Very sad indeed. I think its especially sad when a young person, a person at the beginning of his life, dies. Very sad indeed.
