Ok, I've thought this over for a while. I say we take over the Political Forum. We should just click over there every night and post there like we post here. We should try to observe the same guidelines we imposed on ourselves here. If we see posts with a bunch of flames, we can either ignore them, or better still report them till we pacify those savages. Hell, I'll bet Cthree is hoping to god we'll do just that. What do you all say??

I'm with you Bill. It's worth a try.

(I don't think we can pacify them, but who knows.)

The problem with the politics forum wasn't that it needed to be tamed for politeness. The problem was that the ratio of talking (and especially spewing jingoism) to listening and thinking was too high.

Not that some of you are interested in my opinion at this point, but I think that is a great idea. Use your energies there to make the forum a place that you do want to discuss political issues. That is what it is for. And it would benefit from your input, I'm sure.

And don't let the door hit you in the, well, ya know, on the way over there.

The ^ emoticon above depicts what is intended to represent a "collective" butt and is in no way intended to single out one individual or a specific group of individuals. Furthermore, no emoticons were hurt in the actual butt-kicking portrayal.
Thanks for your kind attention.

Hate to dissapoint you, but my mouse can click me right back here.

Mike, I've read some of the threads over there. They are full of jingoism, but they are also full of pure disrespect for the opinions of others and sometimes even the other person.

I'm not advocating an abandonment of Vintage. Far from it. I suggest we give this a try and do our best to make it work. If it doesn't, then we can tell the mods and cos what is or isn't working.

This proposal ignores the typical thread....even a car-related one .... that has minor political themes, but then goes back on topic. The GM thread might be a good example. I find those threads to often be the most interesting....
