OK what's going on? How do the fish just come off the lines byt themselves? Why and what are they biting? Can someone explain to a dummy?

Yeah, nothing like smashing a fish on a metal deck to ensure its survival when you release it. So many countries overfish the tuna.

If you can deal with a 7 minute video, here is a different example from Italy:

I looked around and asked my buddies on the fishing forum and found out they are using lures consisting of a metal head, feathers, and a barbless, "L" shaped hook. If you watch them, you will see that they keep tension on from the moment of the bite until the fish are slammed onto the deck. One guy has a moment of trouble getting the hook out, but for the most part, when the tension is off the hook comes right out.

Bill...a little off topic, but since you are an avid fisherman, just wondering if you have ever tried these: http://www.ziptailz.com/

These were developed and are now sold by one of my previous co-workers. (Well, he is still working and does this on the side)

No Gene, I never heard of them. It looks like he is marketing to the fresh water crowd based on the photos on the home page. I have not seen this on any of my fishing web sites, magazines or newspapers, but I just may have missed it.

Not sure how he is marketing them, but he has an active presence on Facebook. Obviously, he hasn't quit his day job, but he has some good recommendations from "professional" fishermen.
