Default Laptop RAM

Can any of you frugal shopper types recommend a good online dealer for laptop RAM? I want to add a GB of RAM to my laptop and there are a million places online to buy it. I don't want to spend the day reading customer reviews to figure out who the reputable dealers are.

I've always bought RAM for laptops and notebooks from the manufacturer to avoid compatibilty/quality issues. That's not necessarily frugal but it's usually safe.

If the machine already has a socket populated, you could remove the chip and see who made it.

What in the world do you need with an additional gig of RAM? That's just giving XP that much more to mismanage!

Here are a couple of places I've delt with in the past and have not had any problems.

By all means shop around, prices on this stuff will vary and if your not sure it wouldn't hurt to call their support line. Getting the right stuff can be tricky some times, especially if you're trying to match what you already have.

Samsung made the chip which came with the laptop in there now - Toshiba laptop, Samsung memory - go figure. Most of the stuff that I've been seeing is Kingston brand which is what Toshiba is selling on their website.

I need to use my laptop to operate the new missile defense system I've been working on to protect the sovereign state of Poofter's Froth from revenuers and other undesirables once I secede from the Union.
Actually, I have one empty slot for either a 512MB or 1GB chip. I figure since I'm not paying for it I might as well get the 1GB.

There are lots of different laptop RAM form factors, pin-outs, bus speeds, etc, etc, so it might make sense to take out what you're replacing and write down everything you can find from it.

Another source, expecially if it's a mini-system, would be laptopsinc.com.

And good luck. Ya can't have too much memory. HPH

If it's somebody elses dime I'd just buy it from Toshiba Direct. I think the part number you need is most likely PA3313U-2M1G.

You'll probably need to make arrangements to better secure your missile system. The folks to the west of me in Dade County Ga. never officially rejoined the Union after the War of Northern Aggression and would be very interested in such a system.

You know the SPCA frowns on mailing four legged door prizes via missile.

Mike does he have your coordinates?
