just thinkin'
Now that pure electric cars are real, Tesla, Fiskar, Nissan Leaf.
I just read an article that they are going to put a new demand on the power grid.
Then I thought back to our ice storm two winters ago when that grid didn't function for a week.
uhmm yeah boss, it's looks like I'm going to be late for work.
The power went out last night and I don't have a enough charge on the battery to make it in to work.

Keep thinking. They had a "green car" event down here at the Ritz Carleton. They brought in Teslas and other electric cars. There was a dead Tesla in front of my business. It made it 7 miles.
But don't worry a solar battery charger with 100sq ft of panel will only take a month or two to charge it up.Then if you're lucky you can go 100 miles. That's about what an ox team pulling a covered wagon could go.

Drill baby drill. Employ Americans on the rigs. Develop N Dak Montana and the largest oil reserve in N America.

"You just keep thinkin', Butch -- That's what you're good at." [Famous semi-fictional cowboy]
And here in Florida and other southern coastal areas, of course, there's the little problem of Big Winds that blow through now and then, taking out power lines for periods of up to a month.
We've had an awful lot of our eggs in the fossil fuels basket; you'd think if we're going to trust some other basket, we'd have learned to make it mighty strong.
Nah.

What we need is John Campbell's inertial drive and then we can tap the motion of the universe. (any Sci Fi fans out there?)
But like other alternative energy sources it hasn't been invented yet. So in the meantime.
