Default is it just me.....

Or does the idea of Christian Bale playing il Commendatore also known as Enzo Ferrari in Ferrari's life story, just seem wrong?

Actually, Christian Bale was incredible in "American Hustle" so I think he can pull it off. And the level of makeup artistry is also pretty high. I guess the last guy who portrayed Il Commendatore was Adolfo Celi, but that was nearly 50 years ago.

I can see him playing a "young" Enzo, but not the older man. Someone like Robert de Niro would be a better choice perhaps.

De Niro is involved with a different Ferrari movie project, which I think is based on the book by Brock Yates. And I think that, yes, the Christian Bale one is taking place when Enzo was younger, centered on 1957. So, there is a movie (documentary) about Steve McQueen and the filming of 'Le Mans" that was at the Cannes festival but isn't yet being distributed. Looks like a general surge if interest in racing movies. Cool unless we get another " Days of Thunder".
