Default Just got rear ended. Grrrrr.....

I was coming back from lunch and got rear ended going through an intersection. The car in front of me stopped short, I stopped, and the Astro minivan behind me didn't stop until he hit my bumper. As luck would have it, the only place to pull off happened to be the parking lot of my office!

The screw on his license plate holder punched a hole in my bumper. Anyone have any idea of what other damage I should be worried about or have checked?

The driver seemed to be a nice guy, spoke no English, had a Mexican driver's license (without the required passport), and was in a company van. I just hope the insurance info is legit. His boss (who is younger than me!) came to wait for the cops with us and he wants me to get estimates for the bumper and let him pay it. I'm a bit skeptical about that.

Oh--and I did report the accident and the police issued him a ticket for negligent driving.

This is the second time my poor car has been hit through no fault of its own.

Oooooow, I felt that one Julie. I hate it when it's not your fault. Glad the policeman was there. Are you okay? Don't get me started on negligent drivers. Be thankful it wasn't worse. Please keep us posted.

Julie,

Most important thing is that you didn't get hurt. That said, I hate when people tailgate or are so close that they can't stop in time. So far my S has escaped, but over the 6 years that I've owned my 4Runner it's been hit 5 time. Thankfully I have a trailer hitch that prevents damage.

Good luck on the repairs.

Sorry to hear about your accident. The repair shop should check to make sure that there was no rear bumper structural damage.

Bummer...I'd have it checked out underneath for hidden damage to the frame. Glad it wasn't worse. Let us know how it works out.
