Default The James Bond film you probably don't know

The name is Bond, Jimmy Bond...JIMMY Bond???

Yup, that's right. The very first James Bond movie was produced for a television series called Climax Mystery Theater. The movie was based on the Ian Fleming book Casino Royale. It was shown in 1954 and James was portrayed by American actor, Barry Nelson and he was called "Jimmy" Bond by the other characters. Otherwise, the movie closely follows the action in the original novel. Fleming's novel Casino Royale is unique among the Bond series in that it was made into a movie three times. Following the TV adaptation (for which Fleming received $1,000) Fleming sold the movie rights in 1955 for $6,000 to a company that made a James Bond satire movie in 1967 that featured David Niven and Woody Allen. Thus, the rights could not be sold to the Brocoli family when the movie rights to the rest of the novels were sold.

Here is the link to You Tube page which shows the entire 54 minute made for TV film. Notice the introduction to the series Climax. Does that introduction remind you of anything else from the later James Bond movies???
