The scales went off the pegs and I fell back into my past ways and the pounds quickly accumulated. I gained two pants sizes, and even with new pants, had trouble buckling my belt. This Thanksgiving didn't help, so today, I threw in the towel. Weight Watchers, here I come! Wish me luck!
Well, it's been a little over a week on WW. I have been sticking strictly by the points: their app is great for checking and recording food intake. Even though my weight loss is minimal so far (about 2 pounds,) I am eating better and my pants are already easier to fasten. After all, it took 3 years to gain this weight back, so I figure slow, steady progress is the way to go.

One or two pounds a week is normal. Slow and steady is the way to go.

Seriously, I never minded a stationary and at the same time always loved a real bike but both gave me issues with my prostrate and I said, thanks but no thanks. I'll walk. And now, even that's not easy.
I tried using a stationery bike and hated it. Then I switched to rollers and it was a game changer. You place your bike on 3 stainless rollers which are lightly grooved. Then you mount your bike and start pedaling briskly to attain balance. Then you keep pedaling until you either fall off or finish the workout. It is scary at first as you have nothing to support you. So I started in a doorway until I felt comfortable. It is a great way to develop balance and a proper spin with your pedals. You can also adjust the tension by moving the nylon bands on the pulleys. A half hour workout beats hours on a boring stationery trainer. My wife and I joined a nearby fitness center and our memberships are free as we both have our supplemental health insurance through AARP which uses United Health Care and it includes all classes which are offered. She loves Zumba, yoga and using the multitude of fitness equipment there and certified trainers help get you started. You have to commit yourself and stick with it. Our recent wellness exams confirmed our commitment.

And rollers last a long time. I bought my last set of rollers, Cinelli, in 1981, or so, and sold them in 2010 in complete working condition.

Keep it up, guys. I have an ElliptiGO trainer and a spare 11R longstride ElliptiGO. I have no excuse to not having ever used them.

Not paying any attention to New years resolutions. but day-um. I have got to lose some weight.
I hadn't climbed on the scale for one reason or another for a few days and had jumped 5 lbs.
That 5 lbs is enough to limit the number of pants that will allow me to button the pants.
And I refuse to buy more pants.
