Legal & ralper-- it's never too late to learn; that's what books are for. We can always go back and study high school-level material on our own, picking up what we missed the first time around. I've found that what education does best is prime the mental pump and inspire us to keep learning life-long. It could be that's when we really die: when we quit learning.

jrfblueeyes-- Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of your wife; it must have been very hard for you. This may not have been your situation, but regrets are tough to live with. I hope never to have to think: "...if only he were still here, I'd...." Yes, striking that balance between work and family is a full-time job in itself!

lig--Where a person attends school does not make him educated; he must show SOME evidence of an open and inquiring mind. Entering into rational discussion doesn't hurt, either.

In thinking about the question and reading the posts I must say that, while there are a very few things I might like to revisit, I don't feel as though I need any "mulligans" in this life. I married my high school girl friend. Started going steady in our Junior year and married in 1970, we just celebrated our 33 anniversary. Two great daughters, son-in-law just got back from the middle-east safe and sound, had our first grand daughter this summer, oldest daughter is getting married next year, work for a great company, live in a town/state that I love. Life is good! Like the old saying goes "Even a blind squirrel finds and acorn every now and again". This life is definitely my acorn.

Professor: Thank you very much. I added this to my post so that those of you that haven't experienced such a loss realize what you do have. I'm confident that most of you already do. I hoped that all of you went straight to your spouse and told them how much they mean to you and how much you appreciate them. It's not quantity, it's quality. It's the simple things and the God loaned time that you have now with your spouse and children. I can't emphasize enough the luxury that you have to be able to talk to him or her and your children. I would give anything to be able to simply talk to her. However, life does go on and is for the living. I am happy again and do take the time to savor life and my loved ones. I have no complaints. Happiness for me isn't the destination. It's the journey. I still wish I had kept all them homes I bought and sold. I'd have an S2000 of every flavor!
Thanks again.
