Default I should own a Lotus Elan someday.

I just saw this R&T click-bait article about the best driving British sports cars. I've only owned one on the list. But I've always thought about getting a Lotus Elan.

I can hear the questions now Bill " gee is that like a really old miata?"

Their list didn't inspire except for the F1 and maybe the noble.
I would probably add the Ariel atom.
I really would like to build a minimalist car but EV.
Super light Carbon tub with enough batteries for some decent range but blisteringly quick.

I never normally look at these lists that try to tell me what I should like.

Elan - CC deigned it, built it, and it can't be too bad. BTW, if it was good enough for Jim Clark (who?), it's good enough for me.
TVR - never heard of that model; while the firm has history - that's all it has (and in 1962 it even had an MGA engine in it at LeMans but ... but, that's all it had)
AM Vantage - give me a DB5 any day over that.
E-type - that's a given on any best UK auto list
BAC - I give up; never heard of it
Nobel - heard of it
XJ220 - really.... and they sold how many... I did see one at Amelia Island concours
MacF1 - really.... I think I saw one there as well, in the I've so much money I can't sleep area
Morgan - really.... the cottage industry does live on even in 2017

Yeah, has the Miata look, but I never really cared what others thought of how my car looks. It is the true lightweight in the sports car world and is set up for Ford twin-cam power. Lots of fun right there.

Well, the subject is about best driving cars, so I guess they didn't think about other factors.

The Miata was a copy of the Elan so the analogy is reversed.
