We spoke to a paint guy here about a total respray. (He did very good work but has since retired.) We have lots of little chips on the front bumper and hood. His advice was that once an owner pays $xxxx for a respray they tend to turn their cars into garage queens as they never want to spend that much again. We live with the chips and ride Jonas's bumper every time we get the chance.

I would suggest that anyone repaintng your car take a lot of pictures first so later you can show a potential buyer what was repainted and why. Buyers might assume an accident and walk away if you can't show it was just cosmetic fixes. I know, nobody here will ever sell their S. Never say never.

Very true. That wasn't true in my case, since the car spent 99% of its life in a garage, a heated one to boot.

Catherine you make an excellent point!! Since I know my car is not concours I have no issue driving the heck out of it down dirt roads, etc. and just enjoying it the way one should. That's one of things I really love about my old truck; I just spent an entire day waxing it this week and the chips and scratches didn't bother me at all.

On the other hand I know just what Bill is feeling. I had a stone chip on the hood of the Audi that was driving me nuts. I bought a chip repair kit, followed the instructions, sanded it, painted it, and it came out great until I did step 3, which was to apply clear coat with the tiny brush provided. Bad move. It looked bad. I then tried to repair that and made it worse. Such is life.

Bill,

Check out Unique car car in Andover. They fixed a couple of small issues on my 08. It is like nothing ever happened.

Ask for Rick (the owner) or Pete.

I've been wanting to get the front resprayed for a couple of years.... always find a reason not to....

Like this year... still waiting to see what I'm going to need to do to the engine! ....

Hoping just valve guides!

I feel the same as Mike. There always seem to be something else to take care of and I am afraid that after I get the paint work done I will chip it up again.
