Another great controversial topic: religion and society. Given the state of our country today, my views (as an atheist) are really irrelevant, but I'll keep an eye on the discussion from the sidelines.
So, what does that mean....you're excluding yourself as part of society? This could not only be a religion and society thread, but also a religion versus society thread....

If we go down the religion path I'm checking out of this thread. Those debates always turn bad no matter what your beliefs.

Uppity,

Do you have any fact, commentary or experience to back this up, or is this just your gut feeling?
I do not have hard fact. Where I derive my opinion is from talk here and there from the medical community. No one claims to do it themselves, at least in front of me. I do hear some that claim others do this. Of course, this is all off the record. So that makes me believe that if only some are saying it, then it is probably going on more than we know. And... why else would drug companies be running commericals on TV to the public. It's not like I can go to the drug store and buy these prescription meds. I have to go to my doc and request them. I don't have to see the commercial on TV in order to be informed about the medication, I can read the insert in the prescription, or better yet, research it myself online or at the library. I't's all about the almighty dollar! Not your health!

Alot of the time in the healthcare setting, one hand does not know what the other is doing. Too many hands in the pot with specialists, and so on. Always have someone with you when you go, especially if you are going to the emergency room. I once had hurt my knee and was in the ER and had gotton a shot and then a nurse came in and handed me some pills. I was informed enough to know that I had just gotten a shot and asked the nurse why the pills, what are they and told her that I had just received a medication. She kept insisting I take them. I asked her to check with doc on this, and sure enough, they were for the person next door. You always have to be aware.

And as for the Corvair, hahaha, I thought you were making up a hypothetical!

Don't forget: Caveat Emptor!

Yeah - I preferred the more random, share-your-thoughts-in-20-seconds-and-move-on-to-another-topic-type threads.

I agree. No religion banter. Too volatile.

Regarding Religon

History does not record anywhere at any time a religion that has any rational basis. Religion is a crutch for people not strong enough to stand up to the unknown without help. But, like dandruff, most people do have a religion and spend time and money on it and seem to derive considerable pleasure from fiddling with it.

I can grok this
