Looks like vintage has accepted the Rodney King philosophy regarding controversy.

Here's my question. Is this a symptom of wisdom or one of age? Is it based on an educated rational judgement by a the group or is it more hormonal syndrome of communal age structure within the herd? Is there an anthropologist on call?

As I've grown older I've noticed in m decision making process that I seem to take a less confrontational path to get to the same place. How about you?

Just trying to stir the pot

In fact I think its simply the recognition that we have many different opinions and points of view, and that in spite of that we can have respect for and be friendly with each other.

Call it wisdom, call it age, call it anything you like. It's simply a good practice.

Matt came up with the idea of no politics at the meets a year ago, and most of us have adhered to it. It was and is a great idea. It has given us all the opportunity to enjoy the meets, enjoy each other's company, and become good friends in spite of the differences in the way we see things.

Stir the pot if you like, flts, but this is the way it is.

As we get older, I feel the need to simplify our life wherever and whenever possible. We take the path of least resistance, and try to let things roll off of us. This can lead to a more enjoyable life, for us anyway.

As time passes and we attend more wakes and funerals, it seems we need to do whatever we can to enjoy our limited time on this earth, because you never know when your number is up!

So the gentle way wins in the end. I knew I was into all that Qi Gong for a reason.

Here's a confession.

Normally, I'm generally not one who pays much attention to politics. I have a tendency to ignore it and enjoy life. Last year I got sucked in. And thanks to this forum and the people here I rode the pony till the end. Giddy yup ! It was fun.

Our season's over, life is getting quiet again and after a couple days under sail, just sea and sky we''ve decided to declare our universe subjective and once again pursue pure happiness.

Jimmy Buffett's right you know.

I love summer

Being a 'newbie' to this board, I can only imagine the political tussles that have happened in the past. I can certainly agree that, given some past tensions, having a politics-free zone at meets is a good thing.

Having a controversy-free web site for the weeks (months) leading up to a meet must mean that someone in the past has been SHOT over a disagreement?! Am I wrong?

The persons who I most enjoy on this site are the ones who have an alternate viewpoint to my own. Tolerance and diversity, my peoples. And a little stirrin' the pot.

I hate to risk controversy but this is a sad statement. I'm glad to observe that the widest possible political spectrum will be attending SF 05....albeit muzzled

So.....what will we be talking about... ????
