How about a controversial thread?

Not here. although I understand on the Ca coast they eat small ones. In the Caribean islands that's how they get rid of crack heads in the street. Feed them a nice Cuda fish dinner.

Mmmm...love fish. Do you ever prepare them blackened? Yummy! Of course, anything blackened is yummy. Nothing controversial about that.

MsPerky,
Not controversial? Blackened fish are FULL of carcinogens from the blackening process--the Surgeon General will come out with a warning label for your fish any day.

Thats the fake blackened kind cordy. Real blackened fish never actually touches the skillet. You need 800 degrees to blacken the right way. The fish floats off the skillet on it's own steam.
I like my fish fresh and not overcooked. I have a million recipes. Most of them revolve around tropical fruit and hot spices.
My favorite fishes are hogfish, snook and black grouper. Mahi's good anytime.

We were recently at the Atlantis and they have those fabulous aquariums. You can participate in the feeding. (Stingrays were best to feed --they are so soft) I was helping with the sharks and BARRACUDA and the rest of the scary fish!!! I have never seen one up close until then Those teeth. They were saying don't eat them. Islanders do, but you have to cook them right. Are they that good you are willing to risk your life for them? (By the way, I am allergic to seafood, so I don't eat any of them). Fltsfshr, do they ever bite you?

I've been bit a couple times taking fish off the hook, usually though if I'm going to get it, they cut me with the gill plate. Lots of fish have gill plates like razors. One of he worst ones is a fish called a tripletail. Good eating but sharp weapons they know how to use.

Flats,
I got some really disturbing news from my doctor yesterday--she said that I should cut down my fish intake to once a week. Mercury. As a huge sushi lover, this is not good news for me.
Have a recipe that will take care of that?
