Every day is a good day to honor veterans, but this veteran would like to remind everyone that Memorial Day is about those who gave the last measure of their devotion to our country. We veterans have our own day, after all.

This Vietnam Era Army Veteran is VERY HAPPY that attitudes towards the military have changed.
My Father served in the Navy during WWII
My Father-in-Law also served in the Navy during WWII in Okinawa
Two of my Mother's Brothers (Uncles) both served one as a Marine* the other as a SeaBee. They literally ran into each other on the battle field in Guadalcanal
* He lost his bed roll in battle, the Red Cross provided him with another, then took the money out of his next pay check. In March of 1971 while I was stationed at Fort Dix, NJ, we had a trainee that received a "Dear John Letter" from his wife. He requested emergency leave to go home an try to save his marriage. The Red Cross loan him the money for air fare and then had it deducted from his next several pay checks. That is why I do not support the Red Cross.
As a plaque on the wall of the American Legion that I frequent states: "Real Hero's don't wear capes, they wear dog tags!"

@tof Thanks. This ain't Veterans Day. Nor is it "Dead Veterans Day." And, quite frankly. "Happy Memorial Day!" puts me off despite only standing in a few formations when the company role was called and I had to answer for those we lost.
All gave some, some gave all. Memorial Day is about those who gave all.
