Default Holiday decorating/preparation

There is a mention of holiday preparations/decorating in the weekend thread. Some folks take this very seriously.

Now, I on the other hand am a minimalist when it comes to holiday prep. A tree goes up, I'm not crazy about that part, or much else. A "few" music boxes/decorations come out. That's it for me. Rick has a bit more spirit and puts lights outside as the granddaughter likes that.

I've never been a big fan of the holiday season. I truly enjoy my family but the holiday season just seems to put people into a frenzy and folks just try to do too much to the point of exhaustion. It's just not fun. If I had my druthers, we'd be on an island somewhere where I could ignore the whole thing.

I guess you can now understand my little ticker below.

What do you all do in preparation of the holiday season?

I do a fair amount, but not as much as some of my friends. I put a small tree in the formal living room and bring out Holiday pillows, music boxes, etc. and I also decorate the mantle in the living room. I hang holiday door hangers on the doors, put a wreath out front and on all the exterior doors. I put a spotlight out front on the wreath there and put small lights in all the shrubs outside. I put Holiday linens in all the bathrooms and decorate in every room to some degree, but not tons and tons.
I put a large tree downstairs and also put greenery, etc. on the mantle and hang a wreath over the bar area. I put out various little bric-a-brac, Christmas pillows on the couches, etc. and that's about it.

One of my friends actually has a decorator who helps her remove all her paintings, window treatments, etc. in favor of holiday paintings, she puts a tree in every room and some rooms have 3 or 4 trees and her entire house looks like Christmas Central. Not for me.

My boss (who has no children) puts up 5 Trees in his house. In addition there are Wreaths and Bows in the windows.

I'm really shocked that you don't love the holidays. I had imagined you going all out. Lights, garland, Bourbon Balls, Hot Toddies, Tinsle, Egg Nog, COOKIES, etc.....

Rick hangs lights. I stay inside.

See our reindeer?

Someone took "liberties" with them

It's just never been my favorite time of year. I will do "some" cooking and make some of my special recipe cookies.
