Default Historical racing film, etc.

Just saw on the CNN website a news video about a forthcoming auction of one of the original Auto Union F1 cars from the '30s, designed by Ferdinand Porsche. They expect it will go for $12million, the largest price ever paid for a car at auction. The film has clips of the cars on the track, back before WWII.

Here's the page, click on the vedio.

Their posts often don't remain up for long.

BTW, Unlike the Cosby Cobra, this car with it's true racing history may even get more than they think! By all accounts these were a handful to drive and there are lots of wonderful racing stories from that era with these cars.

Talking

Click on the National News Preference; it shows up at the bottom of the screen. I just watched it and stayed tuned for Bill Gates 3 minutes on Vista

Very interesting. I can't imagine driving that thing at 185 mph without wings or spoilers. Let's face it - I can't imagine 185 mph at all.

I also found this a bit disconcerting:

"It was seen as preferable to be thrown from the car in a crash."

To quote Jose Jimenez: " Oh I hope not".

What video was it that CNN had? This isn't it, but it's very cool nontheless.

Auto Union going down the streets of NYC.
