Highest Mileage S2000
I was wondering how the S2000 will age. Gracefully or become a very large paperweight? We all know people that have gotten 300K miles out of old Hondas, is this what we can expect? What weak points are there from a reliability standpoint, clutch, brakes, etc?
Thanks for the feedback, my last car was a maintenance nightmare at 170K (1994 BMW 530i) and I'd like to know if I should start stocking up on the Xanax.

We put 253,496 miles on our last Honda. Although the S revs a bit faster (4,000 RPM in sixth @ 70 MPH versus 3,500 RPM in fifth @ 70 MPH) I have run Mobil 1 (since the 10K mark) and have experienced 46K troublefree miles (so far). I am hoping for at least a quarter of a million.
I posted a poll a while back asking who had the highest mileage and did not get much feedback. The person that I know of that has the highest mileage is in Mid-Atlantic. Peter (4theheckofit) has 102K on his running with NO2 as he put it: "Good old Honda reliability"
It seems the weak link may be the differential. But again this seems to be in cars with either Nitrous, turbos, or superchargers from what I can tell. Based on what I saw at a tech day last year before FCT04. Revenuer (John) that hosted the tech day was placing samples of oil, trans lube and diff lube in clear plastic cups to compare what was drained out. That convinced me to change the trans and diff lube every 10K even though my "baby" is bone stock except for a K&N air filter.

I wonder what some of the S2000 mechanical experts would say about this, like Billman250 in NY, or the guys at Ganly Honda in Cleveland. They all seem to have pretty good experience with what's failing, and might be able to at least guesstimate what the long-term wear/failure items might be, and hazard a guess at what the high-mileage reliability might be. Another thing that'd be nice to know is what do we have to do (or not do) to keep the car mechanically sound over the long term.
Problem would be getting someone to make a statement about that sort of thing on a public forum.
I'd love to keep and plan to keep this car till I'm old and grey (wait a minute, I'm nearly that already ) and I can no longer drive, but I also don't want to wind up investing major $$$ on scarce parts 10-15 years from now if something does break.

Fish,
In addition to Tom's good suggestions, you might want to post this exact same question in the "Under the Hood" section. I'm sure some of the mechanical gurus over there can give you some sound advice.

63,500 miles here....almost exactly 1,000 miles per month of miles.
I'm also interested in the longevity question, since I've already got 2 wearing spots on the top....behind the window on each side I'm also keeping an eye on the 18 months/ 37,500 miles left on my HondaCare warranty....

I want to thank everyone that has responded so far.
The potential for diff problems I assume is real due to the short recommended lube change intervals. I'll check the 'under the hood' section for some ideas (synthetic?) but I will definitely change the lube before the 15K recommended interval.
