Andy and I graduated Grant High School in Van Nuys, California in 1975. We went to the 10 year reunion and it was a bragfest. We went to the 20 year reunion and it was dull. I talked to some of the girls and he reconnected with a guy who he knew and still is in contact with but we skipped the 30th in 2005.

Valentine, I think you should go just for the hell of it. If you don't go you'll never know what you missed. If it's no fun, so what? At least you gave it a shot.

I really and truly had no friends in high school except Andy and his dirt biker buddies, so there's no one I care to reconnect with.

If I go and its no fun, I'll be out well over $150 for the fees/food, etc. plus whatever it may cost if we decide to buy new evening clothes. Oddly enough, the dinner affairs we usually attend do not require elegant attire. I can buy a couple of tires for my S for that kind of layout. I was thinking too that if it were uber important to see/know these people, I would have known they were around anyway. I'd even forgotten Randy Wallace was in my class until I read over the materials about the reunion. Somehow I'd thought he was a year or two ahead of me. I knew he went to the school, I just didn't remember he was in my class. The only one I really am concerned about is my friend Claudia, and I stay in touch with her anyway.

Our last one was a dress-up affair held on a riverboat casino in Peoria, and I did the financial math in my head, too. I'm not a Peoria person (any more, as I'm reminded whenever I go there to visit my parents), and I don't like casinos, and...

Anyway, I didn't mean to be too harsh on the reunion crowd by putting up "Glory Days" lyrics; it's just that they remind me of the impression I got of the organizers last time. I expect that by now (ahem: 40 years out, gulp) they're pretty secure with themselves. HPH

Fees for my reunion were $25 that included a buffet and drinks (beer, wine or soft drinks). Of course like I said we didn't go to any high priced place and everyone dressed casual...shorts or jeans. Makes me glad I went to a laid back school. A $150 tab is rather high for just a nite out.

Bah! Humbug! I never did and never will. There were too many snobs even back then driving in their parents bought BMWs. Forget about it!

I'm guessing you're going to be needing rears pretty soon so there you go.

You guys are so funny!!! I have no idea what I'll do. +1 has a few regrets that he didn't attend his last one, but he'd been to others and enjoyed himself. I just always blew off the others and I'll probably blow this off, but am a little on the fence. I'm serious about the tires, though. I keep thinking: High school reunion a few hundred, tires a few hundred. Somehow, tires keep winning out. Go figure. I also keep thinking if these people were so great, they'd be driving S2000s instead of semi-sized SUVs, right? I suspect many of them are cruising around in vehicles I always tell +1 look like funeral cars: big caddies and lincolns. I was surprised when I looked at the memorial pages and saw how many of my classmates have died. It made me even though I didn't remember some of them.

I've been to one. 40th. I really enjoyed seeing my best friend from HS whom I'd not seen in about 30 years. Probably never see him again. Chatted with lots of people whom I'd totally forgotten about. The so-called "in crowd" was still the same a-holes and they had not changed any - worse actually. I'm glad I went. I have no desire to go to another one but I don't regret going to one either. I'd say, go for it Val.
