Congratulations, Mike, and all the agonizing quitters! ...smoking is not a very good weight control strategy anyway!

Way to go Mark. You will reap so many benefits that you don't even realize now.

January 31 at 8PM will be my 35th anniversary quitting.

Wow. I'd be happy if I could do anything for 35 years. (Well, I am still on the same wife after 40+)

35 years ago. Weren't doctors still shilling for tobacco companies in magazine ads back then?

Congrats on the five year mark. I know it takes years to get the craving out of your system. When you reach the point that the smell offends you, then you know you are past the point of temptation.

36 years here.

You are still at the 'hanging on' stage at 2 yrs. You will get to a point where it will offend you.

My son still smokes; not a lot but enough that his clothes stink, etc. I feel for him when he's out back in 10 degree weather just to light up. He thought he would be able to quit when he moved in with us while house hunting but that was wishful thinking. He is getting ready to close on a house and I've been getting home owners insurance quotes for him today. Everyone of the companies ask if he smokes and I don't lie. I do wonder how much that makes it go up. Might have to ask the next one I talk to.
