Hey Dave (dlq04)
Need a Jaeger speedometer? Part number SN 6161/12. The thing turns freely, but the needle movement is sporadic. Shows 37,956 miles. The odometer and trip dial work fine. Let me know before I ebay it.

Bill, according to the S/N its a 4.1:1 (10/41) speedo as found in 1600 MkII. That is in fact the differential that I put in my car, so I would be interested in it. Send me a PM and let me know what your asking.
After my last engine rebuild I reset my current speedo to zero, as a experiment to see if I could do it since the trip odometer didn't work anyways. After turning it back and reseting the needle it was dead on accurate when I first tested it with my GPS. I was very pleased with myself. But, before long before things changed. Within 1,500 miles 55 was no longer 55, instead it read 62. So much for that tinkering.
Sporidac needle movement can often be traced back to the cable binding - but not always - and proper lub will correct it. Then again, I've seen brand new ones go bad within a few months. Who knows.... the mystery of British parts.
