Default Hey CPA's need free energy credit advice

Okey dokey.
My little adventure in replacing the fire damaged window got me thinking.
Is there an energy tax credit for going to better windows?

You'll have to ask Rob. I'm retired and my brain cells are on permanent vacation.
Actually you need to check with a CPA in your state as there might be a state credit that isn't well known outside your area. Also check with your utility company. I got a $50 rebate for installing a wireless thermostat.

No. The only energy credits still available to homeowners involve solar powered photovoltaics for generating electricity used in the home, solar powered hot water heaters. Wind turbines, geothermal heat pumps and fuel cells.

The energy credits for home insulation, exterior doors, windows and skylights, and roofing materials expired on 12/31/17 and were not available for 2018. To the best of my knowledge they have not been reinstated for 2019. There are other items which were previously eligible for a tax credit such as electric heat pumps, certain air conditioning and etc,. but those credits expired as well.

Before you plan on doing anything with the credit in mind, consult with your CPA. There are certain requirements and phaseouts that might affect you. Also, there may be certain credits available on the state level (depending on the state) and certain rebates available from your utility company.
