Well my lovely +1 "surprised" with my Hannuchristmacah gifts. A Sony S-550 and an Integra DHC 9.9 since I didn't want to mortgage the house to get the latest Lexicon.
The picture is .

For those of us non-techies, what do those model numbers represent? Blu-Ray is a new form of watching videos but what did you get exactly?

Blu-Ray is High Definition DVD. If used with the many of the current TVs it will will give you the most film-like picture available for TV.
The Integra unit is what's called a processor-preamp. It's very much like a receiver, but it doesn't have built-in amplification, so you add amps and voila, you have sound.
The reason for that is, Blu-Ray have a much larger storage capacity on the disc, so companies are able to put more and better audio information, but then you need something to decode it. My old "pre-pro" didn't have that capability, so to enjoy the most theater-like reproduction, I "needed" both.
I hope that helps. For the new HDTVs, Blu-Ray is a real treat.

Yeah, we watch a fair number of movies and I am a nut about picture and audio quality.
