We have a 42" in a family room about the same size as yours. It sits on a low tv stand. Works perfect. I would not want anything bigger. I personally do not like high wall mounted.

We went with a Samsung 42inch that got damaged when a lightening strike occurred. It was only a few months old at the time and Samsung's warranty was "in home" so a technician came out and repaired it. We got a Sony 42in while we were waiting for the repair. The Sony has a much better picture, but we still like the Samsung and bought a 32inch Samsung for the guest room. It gets very little use unless we have guests who want to watch. All of them are lcds, but if I were buying today, I'd go with the led. My daughter LOVES her LED smart tv.

Love tv shopping!

When it was time for me, i went directly to Video Only. I've purchased from just about every other major retailer, having 3 rooms and 3 flatscreens, and Video Only was always the best in terms of prices, quality, and service. Didn't pay attention where you were located, but is there a Video Only local to you?

I agree about observation. Forget all the numbers, reviews, ect because ultimately it's what your eye is most comfortable with. When i went shopping for a tv this last time, having an Lg in one room and Samsung in the other, i was set on one of those brands. Specifically the 55" led Samsung. After spending 3hrs looking at tv's, reviews, and talking with several tv repair men, I ended up going with a Panasonic 3d for just under $2,000. Three months later, i couldn't be more happy. This tv has everything that anyone could ever want and it's a Panasonic? Who'd of thought?

Keep your mind open, and best of luck in your choice.

We have a 42" Panasonic in the TV room. It's a few years old but still going strong.

^We also have a 42" Panasonic plasma and have had zero problems with it. However, I wish that we had a 46" due to the viewing distance. I like younglegit's comment: look and choose one you like. Flat screen TV's are approaching the commodity status, so differences between brand and model are minimal these days. As an aside, since it took you the better part of 6 months to decide on a $65 printer, is this decision going to last until 2015?

damyam! sure as shootin' looks likes a friggin fireplace w/ screen!

i agree that the high wall-mtd (as OVER a fireplace) would just make my neck hurt (and my wife's usually hurts anyhow...not implying that she is a PITN, however )

Funny that you mention this, because made an emergency PRINTER purchase a month ago....could not get the "not so old" one to print b/w Did all the diagnostics; with no result, it was recycled and I went to Staples a mile away! It cost 99.00 for a Photosmart copy/print/scan basic model and I made the decision in 24 hours...b/c that's all the time I had before leaving for FL

And where do you think that printer was made....? Most likely from some inferior place like China, I bet.
