muscle atrophy is a wicked thing.
The first time I wrecked my knee was 40 years ago.
I can still vividly remember the struggle to just move my big toe.
It must be brutal to get your whole body back in shape.
Hang in there John, you'll get there.

just an update - I am now walking comfortably with a cane. I can walk unaided from one end of the house to the other. The therapists are really kicking my butt - so I am sore most of the time now. I am dipping my toes in the back to work pool. I can't travel, but am making phone calls and going to meetings.
I have put 30 pounds back on, so I don't look like a scarecrow anymore. Since I have lost so much weight, I find that I get cold really easily, so we have not been going to Payson near as much and when we do, I don't spend the night. I froze the last time we spent the night there.
Between physical therapy, occupational therapy, and doctors visits, I am staying pretty busy. My tremors have decreased significantly to the point where I can write my name legibly now and my typing is not so labored. My left hand still shakes quite a bit, but my right is almost steady.
My physical therapists are happy with my progress. I was doing a balance exercise where I do squats on a half sphere (round side down) and my physical therapist told one of his coworkers that noone goes from being wheelchair bound to this exercise in a month like I have done.
Even with the progress, I still get frustrated. I am still very weak, and wobbly. And even with the cane, I move very slowly. There is work around the house that I am having to hire out that I would normally do.
So there is still a lot of progress left before I am back to normal. I have about another month to month and a half of physical therapy, and then I will have to join a gym to finish rebuilding. I should be going back to work full time in March and it will probably be late summer before I am back to relative normalcy.

So glad you updated. I'd wondered how you were doing. I fully understand how the physical therapy depletes you and keeps you sore! I used to come home and almost throw up after every session until the last couple/months. I really hope you do return to normal soon and wish you well. Please update us on your progress. It is wonderful you are improving so quickly! Best wishes.
