Unless the plans change, +1 and I will be leaving 8/15 for a couple of months in Santa Fe. Thought about taking the S, but time constraints prevent this. Looking forward to spending some time seeing the sights and visiting local places of interest.

Uh-oh, Santa Fe will never be the same!

Of course I could drive your S out and help keep you out of trouble while I'm at it.

Never been to Santa Fe. Just Gallup () and Albuquerque. New Mexico does have some different and interesting scenery judging by what I've seen. Their rest stops are lacking but they work better than bushes.

We have to fly due to +1's work schedule, so I probably won't notice the rest stops. However, we're flying in to Albuquerque and driving to Santa Fe since Santa Fe doesn't have a very large airport.

Unless you rent something similar, you're going to miss your S. Mid-August to mid-October are just spectacular out here -- the trees will turn (both the aspen at high elevations and the cottonwoods at low), and there are all sorts of scenic drives for which a convertible is optimal. Those drives also, for the most part, are the sort of twisties where good handling is what you want. Have a blast. HPH

Val...sounds like you two are headed off for a great adventure! I've not been to NM - have been wanting to go. So have some fun out there for me. The Mustang convertible isn't a bad way to go for a rental.

We'll be there for a work assignment that my husband is doing, so I'm sure that we'll get a normal rental car. I'm already missing the S and I haven't left yet. Is there a rental agency in that area that rents anything similar to the S? We'll be staying in Santa Fe and the brochures and books the company gave us to look over show the area to be gorgeous. I posted on the NM forum, but only got one response. I figured there must not be many S owners in the Santa Fe area.

Santa Fe... A quaint little town.

You'll like it there. of course you'd like it even more if you had your car with you.

There's a NM forum? Um...oops.

I'm betting that there are "exotic" rentals in Albq; but as they're all very expensive, one thing you could do is simply upgrade to a convertible at the airport. Most of the majors have things like Mustangs; recently we got a Chrysler Sebring convertible out of O'Hare (not much of a car, really, but the top went down).

Santa Fe is a GREAT place to visit (and the other half of that cliche is even more true, IMO), particularly if you like fine arts and food. There are also numerous outdoors opportunities (that time of year mostly related to walking in the mountains), and nearby are Taos and the San Juan Mountains in southern Colorado -- long weekends in mountain cabins are easy to arrange. If you're into such things, there are several casinos in the area as well. All-in-all, there's too much to review generally, but I'll be glad to point you at specific things if you have questions. HPH

Then can we count on you, Dr. Cloud, to steer our Valster in the right direction and look out for them when they get there? I can't let her out of my sight unless I know someone's going to keep an eye on her. She'll tear your town from stem to stern, watch out.
