Have you called an old friend lately?
I am the worst with not calling old friends and letting years go by. So I got on the internet looked up some numbers and called up a few of my old play ground buddies. It was nice to call them just to say hi and not have a wedding or a funeral involed. I had not talked to one friend in over two years the last time was at his wedding. It was special I should have never let so much time pass.
Just a reminder the phone is right there. Pick it up and give some of those old buddies a ring! You'll be happy you did!

Thanks for the reminder. One of my high school friends had been living in Kazakhstan for two years and I didn't know it. He was good enough to call me when he got back and I thought how nice that was of him. And then he went back to Kazakhstan!

This is a great post. Its something we should all take the time to do. The years go by real fast. And, its real easy to lose touch.
Two years ago I stumbled upon the e-mail address of a close high school friend. We hadn't had much contact since college (30 years ago). I sent him an e-mail and we've been in touch ever since. We've not become the best of friends again but every now and again we e- mail each other and stay in touch. Its nice.
A similar thing happened with another friend about a year ago.
Thanks for reminding us.

This is one of my few (according to my wife ) positive points. I go to great strides to keep in touch with old friends: grade school, high school, college, former co-workers. It's not easy when you are always the one to take the initiative....but I still do it.
I've known my oldest buddy since about age 2 or 3....toddlers together. He's not in good health and is one of the "working poor"....so I'm the one maintaining the contact. His bday is coming up on 2/2 and I always send him a card, even though he rarely returns the favor.
