So you want it both ways, Cordy? Which is it? Lighten up -- or get preachy?
Yes.

Don't misunderstand me, my comments about the president apply to the position, not the person.

You got it!

Problem with that is that in this specific context it does resonate to the current president - specifically.

I saw the show and did not get upset but knew he and everyone else on the planet would hear about it. His apology was sincere and the guy just made a bad joke. No one is perfect and I would tell the handicap jokes in school and now I know that was not a good thing to do. I have friends with handicaps and they often make jokes about them. Friend rides a bike with an artificial leg and jokes he never gets cramps anymore. Get over it.

The whole PC thing annoys the crap out of me anyway.
We create terms to identify a condition or situation.
BUT When that term becomes a label, it is no longer acceptable to use anymore.
Where is the logic in that?
The term "mental retardation" is being deep-sixed by the Commonwealth at the end of the month. The official term will be "Intellectaully Disabled." What are the initials for "Intellectaully Disabled?" ID, right? What word starts with those letters and was once officially used to describe persons of a specific IQ range and became a term of derision for stupid? IDiot. It's only a matter of (probably very short) time before this comes up and the term will be changed again.

I thought ID10T was a computer term - as in id10t error.

Actually around our house the code word for an idiot move is "College Graduate". We have some in our family that start their mouthes before their brains are engaged.

Sad but true. Though he is pretty nice to me. Otherwise I'd kick his ______

Bass does not walk softly, but he does carry a big stick...

Bass > <Lainey

I end up with a tired arm from all that hitting him over the head.....
