Default Happy 4th of July

It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.

You will think me transported with Enthusiasm but I am not. I am well aware of the Toil and Blood and Treasure, that it will cost Us to maintain this Declaration, and support and defend these States. Yet through all the Gloom I can see the Rays of ravishing Light and Glory. I can see that the End is more than worth all the Means. And that Posterity will tryumph in that Days Transaction, even altho We should rue it, which I trust in God We shall not.

John Adams

Today's Memorial Daily Bulletin "Thought for the Day":

"We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal..."

Happy Independence Day to you, Flts, and to all.

I had the best 4th of July ever. Yesterday, I picked up my son at Logan. He is serving in the Navy and has been away
for 14 months. My heart and home are full again.

Hope everyone enjoyed the 4th. Ours here in Portland ME was amazing. Spectacular celebration with the Portland Symphony Orchestra and Don McLean overlooking Casco Bay. Incredible fireworks as the PSO played the 1812 Overture. McLean sang Vincent (Starry, Starry Night) first (that one always makes me cry), then American Pie later on in the program. Of course, everyone sang along. Did not know that song is in the top five of all time! A wonderful way to end our trip.

PJ, it almost goes without saying that we are greatful for Logan's sacrafices. But you should know that we also appreciate the sacrafices made by those back home such as yourself. Sounds like you had a very happy Independence Day.

Deb, sounds like you had a good one as well. What are you doing in Maine? (I've been a tad out-of-touch lately.)
