Anyone who had to pay cash after trying to pay for gas at the B P Station with a card should check your statement. I was double dipped! Normally I pay with cash for gas, but when both groups showed up at the same time to fill up for the 2nd half of the drive, I used my debit card to save time & make room for the next vehicle. After filling up, the display read please pay inside. While in line inside, I realized I wasn't the only one that this happened to. I even asked the cashier if we were going to be paying for this twice, she said "no, don't worry"
Tonight I was doing some banking online & saw the debit transaction listed!

 

Check with the bank tomorrow. Perhaps the authorization went through twice and the charge once??

 

For what it is worth I have run across a "similar" issue when buying gas with my Amex card. The gas station hits the Amex with a $125 charge up front but in reality only charges one with the actual purchase price.

 

Interesting that yours said "Please pay inside" AFTER filling up - mine said it before I started, as it was authorizing the card. I wonder if some glitch in the credit card system caused the "Pay inside" message to come up on some of the pumps, even ones that were not pending a charge (like yours), in which case you didn't actually have to go in.

I just checked - I have only one charge in the correct amount.

 

I'm going to check right away, thanks for the warning. I'll let you know how it works out. We had great difficulty on Saturday and on Sunday.

 

I checked with my bank today, filed a dispute. Was told 50/50 chance of it working, because I have no receipt for the cash transaction to prove it was paid for twice.
If I have time, I will try to contact the B P station.

 

Oh snap, I just PM you about this. I don't believe this will get this far, but you can ask to review their security camera for that time period.

I'm sure you will not see this charge when you get your statement, unless the employee at the station are dishonest. Their book should be off balance that day

 

Just a follow up. My account was credited 6/26. Either the bank's dispute worked or the BP corrected it on their own. Alls well that ends well.

Hope nobody else was double-dipped.
