10-12 seems doable for most folks so far. Please let me know if you would be likely to attend on that weekend.

 

Bill, we should be free for at least some of that weekend. We're an easy commute to your place. Once you set the date, I can make arrangements with my son for someone else to pick up grandkid duty.

Bad news.

Aug 10th-12th is out. That is the week of the Falmouth Road Race and the hotels are all booked or require a 5 night stay.

I have found two hotels that have openings for the weekend of August 3-5 and one that has openings the week of August 17-19. The hotel that has openings both weekends is pretty much on a main road and not near the ocean. they do have a big pool. The room rate is 185/night plus tax. Figure $410 for the weekend.


The hotel that is on the water is only available on the Aug 3-5 weekend and rooms are $249/night for a studio.

These places will not set aside a block of rooms for us. If we are going to do this we need to reserve rooms in the next few days. So please let me know if you are willing to do this and which weekend works. If we need to think about this over the next few weeks, then it is no good for us this year. Maybe I can set something up for next year instead.

 

We won't know that soon, so count us out. Thanks for the idea, LB. It was a good one. Maybe others can go this year.

 

LB, we'd love to do this, however, we have some family coming in and their trip plans/dates are still to be determined. This sounds like a wonderful trip and opportunity to see some great folks but once again, we cannot make it.

 

My wife has informed me that our oldest grandson is graduating from college sometime in August ....In Missouri of all places [one of my favorite places in August ]. I have the distinct impression that we ARE going to attend. But we don't have the date handy so can't commit to the "Great Escape" one way or the other at this time.

 

It seems to me the best bet is to try and do this next summer with a sign up thread starting in January so we can give people plenty of time to sign up for both the event and the hotel. Sorry it could not work out this year. Based on those people who are already going to be in the area I may try to set up a small, informal meet with Lainey, Dean, Granny and other New England locals who can drive down for the day. I'll talk with them off line and see if there is a day or two that works for them. If I come up with a day then I'll let everone know when we plan to meet. If you will be in the area, or want to make a special trip, you will be welcome to join us.
