Thinking of getting my son and daughter in law a new lap top for Christmas.
What do you think of this one?
No gaming planned. Surfing internet, paying bills, etc.

Last week my work computer kept dragging my selection menus all the way down on my screen , and all the way right on spreadsheet documents, and it would drag my printer selection menu all the way down as well when trying to print. It was driving me crazy. I called my computer nerd (Nerds on Site) for help and no reply back form him so I was left to fend for myself. Going into the office on a weekend to get work done during a quiet time and that reared its ugly head out of the blue with no prior warning. I tried swapping the mouse and keyboard for spares we have in the office and it did nothing to fix the problem. I ended up changing ports for the keyboard and mouse and making a change to auto-scroll option (in the mouse settings), and so far everything returned to normal. I've got some choice words for the Nerd when he eventually calls me back. In all my years I have never seen that issue. Solved for now I hope.

Just an FYI. Windows 12 is on the horizon, tentatively July next year.

Don't most newer computers allow you to upgrade if you have enough memory, etc.?

I still have not upgraded to 11. Was kinda waiting for the kinks to iron out.

I found very few issues between Windows 10 and 11. I did hesitate to update, fortunately, it didn't cause too many headaches.

Maybe I should look back in this thread to see if my memory has faded.

I have a Lenovo and it's been great. It's from 2022. I've got is set-up and waiting for my visit on Wednesday with a medium.

I love the iPad Pro with the magic keyboard. These are used by every airline in the world for cockpit flying/navigation/publication resource/communications/flight planning and live route/weather enroute. My company did try Microsoft products (we had their traveling contract out of Seattle) for a bit but the failure rate was 100 times that of iPads. We threw them (30K of them) away like Belichick did with that Microsoft Surface product during the game!

My personal one has been flawless since I got it. I always works.

Demise of the Surface and 3 other shots of my company iPad at work during a flight. KDTW-RJGG is Detroit to Nagoya, LFPG-KDTW is Charles De Gaulle to Detroit and EHAM-KLAS is Amsterdam to Las Vegas.
