Tomorrow is my first highway work trip in the new WRX, so looking forward to it. The new WRX is quieter and more comfortable than my 2019 WRX. After 4 hours of highway driving my ears used to ring with the old car, mostly tire noise. I really want to see if the new WRX will come close to the fuel economy of the old car, I think it will be a bit worse with the larger engine, but the ratings say it should be 1 mpg better than the old model. I would be happy if it was just the same.

I did 450 kms highway driving today ( 4 hrs approx.) Compared to my 2019 WRX the car is definitely quieter on the highway, and the seats are pretty comfy. Suspension soaks up the bumps pretty good, which adds to the comfort, and it handles great.

I've got the CVT model so it has all the safety systems with adaptive cruise, lane keep assist, which is nice to have on a longer highway trip. Improved stereo system is easier to hear on the highway as well as bluetooth phone calls. Fuel economy was pretty good, it didn't seem much worse than the last model despite the larger engine, if it is worse it is hard to discern, I don't think it is any better. I was driving with a headwind today and winter fuel blend has started up in our region, I'm happy with it. The tuning of the new engine is so much better, the new transmission is better too, it is so much smoother. The car feels stronger but it doesn't seem to run any faster times from testing I've seen. Max boost has been 12.9 psi thus far, my 2019 would go well over 21 psi , so much lower boost.

Sounds good. The only thing that I don't like about mine is the powerband, it has that almost stutter at around three grand, I've driven 2 other WRX's of the same generation and they all had it.

My 2019 was the same, the new model is super smooth by comparison in terms of tuning. Hitting the rev limiter is easier to do now. The new electronic wastegate controls boost better than the old mechanical setup.

I am going to share a personal email from my friend Joe because it sends such a strong message about love and life.

"Bridget would have been 74 today. Shortly after visiting her gravesite I arrived home feeling pretty good about all the blessings in my life and then the attached picture punctuated that thought.
Life may not always be what you want it to be but sometimes a beautiful sunset is all you really need.
Stay strong,
Joe "

^ That is nice Dave.

Every time I lose someone special in my life I realize the need for me to stop and smell the roses as they say. Unfortunately it doesn't happen and very little changes in my life. I really need to sit down and figure out if I can change directions, but the treadmill of life really makes it hard to jump off though.

As I grow older I keep getting blindsided by loss. It is difficult to move past losing so many people that I cared for. I am slowly moving forward and trying to enjoy whatever time is left for me and trying hard to be positive and thankful for each day.
