Default The GOOD news thread

Since it seems most news these days is bad, here is a thread for whatever good news you want to report.

I have some. My nephew and his family are moving back to DC from a year away while he was overseas. Wife and adorable grandnieces have been in AZ. They wanted to buy their first house, but the odds were not in their favor, with low interest rates, high demand, low inventory and just a very hot market here. Multiple offers were the norm. I was doubtful they would find something before returning early Nov. But I was wrong! I got them a great agent who was really on top of things and she had them put in an offer on a townhouse that came up for sale on Fri. They managed to be the first bid and lucked out because the sellers had a ton of showings lined up but wanted to get a deal quickly because they were moving to their new place soon. It is a really nice TH in a good location. I am still shocked, but we are all very happy!

So 31 years ago today (technically, 31 years ago about 7:30pm yesterday due to the time difference with Australia) Virginija and I started our shared life together.

Here's to many, many more years with the best thing to ever happen to me.

Double good news for opposite reasons.
It's a nice day on the weekend today.
Monday-Wednesday is supposed to rain which is great because we are in a mini drought and really dry.

Good news here as Delta decided to make landfall well to our west. Not good for those poor long-suffering folks over on the central Louisiana coast, though.

That must be a huge relief when something like that misses you.

Bea’s youngest son, who is on permanent disability retirement from FDNY due to lingering effects of 9-11, has been in Moscow, Russia since early this year with his GF who works there for a pet food company (she is from Belarus.) Due to travel restrictions, he has been unable to come back to the US in July as planned, but has just now received approval to fly to JFK on Aeroflot on October 25th. Bea is very happy! Unfortunately, his GF cannot get a visa to accompany him due to the current travel ban. She wants to get a job here so they can eventually settle down, but that will have to wait. So good news along with some disappointment.

Last week I had a bunch of good happen. Wednesday, Oct, 7th I was driving to Rocky Mountain National Park, just an hour from home, and a deer was in the road to my left. I slammed on the brakes, the deer stopped walking in my path, fell down and then it got up and went back to the other side of the road. It so easily could have been a collision. Once I got to the Bear Valley Road inside the park there were three parking lots and the first two were full. I ended up getting a space as a man and woman walked to their car and pulled out right where I was.

On Thursday, Oct. 8th, my cat Talia couldn't use her hind legs at all. She had been fine on Sunday but went downhill fast for no apparent reason. On Friday, Oct 9th, she was up and walking! The second visit to the vet on Thursday, did the charm when Talia was started gabapentin and buprenorphine.
