Which begs the question, what else have you used in the S2000?
Honda MTF (both flavors) and GM SM/FM so far.

I used to read Road Rage's discussions and ratings in the threads for oils and lubricants. Since then I have used Almasol LE 607 in the diff - and I change it when I change the tranny oil. I used Almasol LE 10/30 blend in the AP1 engine for a couple dozen oil changes, and then I switched to using Amsoil Synthetic European Car Formula 5/40. I order it by the case and use it in all my vehicles along with their Amsoil filters. I change the tranny every 12--15,000 miles using Honda MTF, but I may try one of these ^^ in the new tranny, since you guys like what they do.

Since you're already using their oil, give the Amsoil MTF a try. I've been very pleased with it. Also, if you're buying Amsoil stuff regularly, spend twenty bucks on a preferred customer membership and buy the stuff at wholesale. I buy their oil, filters, and MTF in quantity and save a bundle over retail.

I think it is a superiror fluid. They need to be changed every time you track the car, IMHO. It definitely improved te shifting.

If you don't track it, I would think it is good for 50K miles.
Thanks Bud, I was just about to ask how often I should have my mechanic change it. You guys are something when it comes to your cars!

I too just used the new and improved HONDA MTF this spring, and I have to say, it really is better than the old MTF. I have 4 track days on the car so far this year, and the car is still shifting very smooth, the old MTF did not feel this good after track workouts.

When did this "new" Honda MTF come out? Is it a replacement for the old, or do you have to ask for it specifically?

I think it came out in the fall/winter
You should get the new fluid by default, unless the dealership has the old stuff in stock
The new part number is Honda: P/N 08798-9031 and Acura: P/N 08798-9031A

Basically Honda/Acura has developed a new MTF which is supposed to work like GM Syncromesh...

Now I am . I understood Bill to say -- and it makes sense -- that the tranny synchromesh works better if the fluid is not so slippery. The new Honda MTF seems to indicate on the container that it lowers the friction, improving gas mileage. Is there a conflict of interest between smooth shifting and improved gas mileage -- with lessened gear friction? But Doug indicates that the tranny also shifts more smoothly with the slippery new stuff.

BTW
This container is a different color from the old Honda fluid. I changed my aluid before going to Wintergreen, and they gave me the old stuff -- didn't even mention there was a newer formula... So much for Russell Smith Honda.
