The canna lily continues to grow, it's huge, and now we've been rewarded with a bloom.

It should look even better in a few days, but not sure if the hurricane/storm will mess it up.


The root has to be dug up in the fall and replanted next spring. Not sure if I will do that as it really is large and looks a bit out of place in our flower garden.

It will get tall and big. I put mine in a container and leave it in the garage all winter. In the spring it looks dead but then it gets green shoots and is beautiful again. Mine is called a Tropicana with beautiful red, green and orange striped leaves. BTW, it is poisonous too!

Not sure how it is poisonous. I think it is OK for Gkids to play around but I wouldn't make tea out of it. Ask Dean. If you do decide to get rid of it, give it to someone who wants it. They are very pretty plants and add interest to a garden.
