I'm using the feeder jar on a hose, with Miracle-Gro, on my front and back "yards" this morning. It seems to really help.
Our plants that are in pots with the Miracle Grow potting soil are HUGE compared to the same plants that are in the ground. The ones in the ground have been fertilized, but using their soil makes a HUGE difference. It's good stuff!
I use Miracle Grow potting soil too.

Pretty! Our garden is starting to look sad. So much rain, so much heat, and summer is slipping away. Some flowers are already done for the season, though this has yet to bloom. The blooms on mine are supposed to be red. The plant got a late start.

Here's a question for those who grow roses. I have one rose bush and for the last two years, it gets ONE rose early in the season, and the rest of the season it's just stems, leaves and thorns. What is up with that? We've had it for a while and it used to bloom in the summer and into the fall.

No answer about the rose, sorry.

Here is a sad and strange story. We have had a fish pond for some 10 years, just goldfish and about three weeks ago all the fish just died. Some weighed 1.5lbs, we had some 40 fish. I have assumed that the summer has just been too hot for goldfish but I really don't have a clue as to what caused it. We have started again but if these ones don't make it through the winter then I'm going to fill the pond in and plant a rose bed.

goldfish are tough, they can take it. I suspect someone in your neighborhood sprayed insecticide or herbicide in the wind. If they all died at one time, that's probably it.

I had wondered about that. The fish were stressed by the heat and we had a storm that turned to waterfall off but that's not an unusual summer happening. It was a pretty sad day.

yes the egrets find mine once in awhile and they'll empty it.

Anyone recognize this flower? Neat flower, lasts a long time. Someone gave it to us. It spreads so I have it in a pot. Plants about 20" tall. I'd like to know what it is.

No idea, flts, but it's pretty!

I chopped down a few flowers today, and chopped the dead heads off of a few more. I even pulled up a few impatiens that were no longer looking good. We have a few sunflowers and I was going to cut the heads off the dead ones, but the Goldfinches are feeding on them, so I'll leave the alone.

Our garden is an experiment every year. Next year, we'll skip the Cosmos and the Astors. They were a disappointment. The dianthus also disappointed. Too much foliage, too few flowers.

The begonia will be part of next year's garden they did well. Some of flowering shrubs/plants in the garden need a good crew cut. They are getting too big for the area. A work in progress.

The calla lily should bloom soon. I see red on the tips! Some late summer color will be nice.

Houston area is down to two waterings per week for now, and it may get worse. My lawn is wilting in the heat, and in some areas it is brown already. But the Native Americans are dancing, and the gov is praying for rain!

The governor's prayers and the native American dances should do the trick.

Actually, not so sure about the praying governor.
