The new Lotus is an example of extreme overkill styling that would get old quickly.
Except that much of it is functional aerodynamics. For a track car, that definitely trumps good looks.

Though the BEST car designs have good aero AND good looks. But you tend to pay for that....

More importantly, I wonder if they got the handling right, or if they're just producing another sportscar wannabe.
Well, it was not clear to me from what I saw on-line it did not give any details on the suspension, it simply stated "four wheel independent". I have not seen any stats on the weight distribution either. But it is safe to assume that it has good ole' "Detroit understeer" built in to it.

At least they did not follow Ford's ill fated T-Bird with a "dead axle" on the rear? What where they thinking? Of course the T-Bird is now history again.

for the most part.

I think that they could have gone for a bit more flair on the rear fenders to match the "Jaw line" in the front. With perhaps a bit wider "sneaker" on the rear with a lower aspect ratio.

As long as this has gotten off onto a styling tangent, I'm curious about what everyone thinks of the new Corvette.

I was never much of a Corvette fan, but I thought that the 2004 was just about the nicest one ever produced (from an exterior styling point of view). I'd read about the new ones (2005) and assumed that they would be even nicer. Having seen a few, I'm disappointed. The car looks too wide, I don't like the way the headlight fit on the fenders, I don't like the sides or the rear. There is something about the proportions and the car in general that doesn't work. All in all, I think the prior model was nicer. What do you think?

I like the new ones. I don't desire one but last night, we followed Christa's principal in his vet after an awards ceremony and I was thinking, NICE CAR! Actually, I don't know what year it was but I think it was new.

The Z06 was the first Corvette that got my attention in years. The new C6 is also one of the only Vetttes that I would really consider owning. For years, they were nothing more than "over weight" status symbols as far as I was concerned.

On the other hand. I will state that an S2000 in skilled hands (like that of Gfacter) can give a C6 a "run for it's money" on the track. I have a video of George passing a C6 at Beaverun last year.

Unfortunately, the video file is too large to forward?

Best regards,
Matt

Woman love the S2000. It has become my official date car. Sometimes they even ask "Are you going to bring the convertible tonight?". I'm convinced the S2000 has style that will last and be timeless. Woman love it............Oh the looks I get from Soccer Moms is unreal. Talk about desperate house wives.

The Soltice is underpowered. It has a strange look but I sorta like it. Although I was chatting with a Pontiac die hard about the Soltice. He said it looks like ass with the top up. The Soltice is a 5 speed I believe. But GM went to the same company
that makes the S2000 shifter. So at least the shifter will be good.

I'm convinced that Dodge copied design cues from the s2000 for the viper when they redesigned it a few years ago.

Long live the sexy roadster!

The Pontiac Solstice has a 5-speed Aisin manual transmission. I went to the Aisin web site and couldn't see any mention of the S2000.

Here is their page for transmissions:

http://www.aisin-ai.co.jp/english/products/index.html

So, who does make the transmissions for the S2000?
