No bias talk here, I would just like to see journalism that isn't tied to any political party.

Dave: You'd have to go back to the Tombstone Epitath to get that. Even the early 20th Century muckrackers were politically and ideologically motivated. Reader's Digest?

Further than that. There are plenty of great examples of "yellow journalism" from the eighteenth century American press to be found on the Internet.

I do not have the source to back this comment up. But I have heard that a survey of journalist students revealed something that is a bit scary to me. When asked why they wanted to be a journalist they answered "because they want to change the world". Excuse me, isn't it the job of a journalist / reported to report the events that shape history, not to influence those events or change history?

Sorry.

There's always the old disparaging description of journalism school: "4 years of college to learn to write at the sixth-grade level." (Newspapers were allegedly written with sixth-grade language, back in the day.)

How many times in the last couple of weeks have you heard references in the media to the "sale of 'good Chrysler' to Fiat?" Excuse me, but the union retiree health care trust is the majority owner; Fiat gets 35%. And they call it a sale, even though Fiat is putting up no money for their minority interest. So what kind of moron would call it a "sale to Fiat?"

Apparently one that has at least a four year degree in journalism.
