try this trick. Put dishwasher detergent in your washing machine and run it on hot.

Cleans off stuff stuck behind the drum and sterilizes everything inside.

see if that helps your smell situation.

It works on top loaders.

ps learned that from a Sears tech. My wife has allergies.

We bought a pair of W-D about 2 years ago....went with mid-level Energy Rated GE. Gas dryer and top-loading washer. I think the pair was about $1k on sale at Lowes...plenty to pay IMHO

We always leave the top lid open after emptying the load. Since it's in an alcove on 2nd Floor, we can thus pull shut the Pella accordian door....nothing sticking out.

dishwasher detergent not liquid dish soap.

It's low suds too, they're both washing machines.

^Oh! I guess that would work. I never use my dishwasher. I should turn it on just to keep the seals from drying out.

don't use your dishwasher? That leaves several options.

You have a housekeeper.

You've discovered the thousand pack of Chinet at Costco.

You eat out a lot.

or...

You wash them in the shower.
