Two coaching blunders on Sunday: Joe Gibbs calling an illeagle second consecutive time-out, and Sean Peyton calling for the double reverse toss that Bush mishandled. The Saints were up by three with three minutes to play. A hand-off to a back and a good punt probably would have won the game.
I can't remember the last time two head coaches cost their respective teams a game on the same Sunday.

I don't think the illegal 2nd time out call cost them the game. Probably the field goal kicker could have made the kick whether it was 51 yarder or 15 yard less. I think Coach Gibb took responsibility for the 2nd timeout though he may not have been the one who called it. But he accepted the responsibility as the head coach. Kudos on that regard.
It is still somewhat troubling for me to see any coach call timeout to psyche the kicker. On the other hand, Saints' head coach's call did cause the loss of that game, I think.

Calling a time-out to "ice" a kicker is a time-honored tradition, but it seems as if doing it an instant before the ball is snapped (after which the kick usually happens despite the time-out) is a new phenomenon.
And it's a new phenomenon that cuts both ways, as happened in a pro game fairly recently.
The kicker missed the disallowed kick, and he made the real one. The joke was on the coach who called time out. Ha!

The Browns lost to the Raiders this way. We made the kick with no time left on the clock only to find out Oakland called a timeout just before the ball was snapped. On the re-kick, the kick was blocked by Oakland. That game may cost us the playoffs.

What a game that was between the Pats and Ravens! All I can say is that Pats pulled that one out and made the game one of the most exciting ones in recent memory. Once again, Pats found a way to win and Ravens found a way to lose.
I do hope Steelers have a better luck. Good luck, Steelers!

The Ravens did everything right except at the end rushing 3 people not to mention the bone head play of calling a timeout on the fourth down play (that coach should be shot) Prevent defense doesn't prevent anything unless you're 3 touch downs ahead!!
I just don't see how this kid coach from Pittsburg can solve the Patriots, I'll be shocked if Pittsburg doesn't loose by at least 2 touchdowns....The Pats showed last night why they are the best team in Football!!

^ I agree. It seems like the games are now being micro-managed to the Nth degree. The games are being over-managed. Just look at the number of games this past weekend where the games were lost because of it. But no matter what, we will always criticize when games are lost. Go Cowboys!
