Donna's good at filleting fish. After filleting a northern pike, blue gills are easy. A friend caught a large batch ice fishing.

When I was young my parents would clean and skin hundreds of Lake Yellow Perch. They made the job look so easy and when I tried I did nothing but make a mess.

Now if you get catch with that many perch you end up in jail.

This virus is keeping me from getting some delicious Perch dinners!

^Back in the 90's I flew our plane up to Cornwall, Ontario, with Bea and a fellow co-worker for a weekend of fishing. The thing I remember most was how delicious the Lancaster Perch were. Have any of you had these? Scoots?

Gene, nothing beats fresh young legal-limit Walleye. Nope never heard of Lancaster perch; somehow different than other perch?

I should add, the blue gill was outstanding. Best part, nothing fancy. Fish fry batter and stove topped cooked in butter. So often, when it comes to cooking fish, the simple ways are the best IMHO. No oil, which many use.

Dave, I think it is in the method of cooking the perch in the area around Lancaster, Ontario. Here's a recipe I found online.

I grew up on a lake in NE OK where crappie were high in numbers. Love eating crappie. But have to say after moving north that walleye has to be the best freshwater fish I have ever eaten.

What is for dinner tonight?

We are having zoodles (zucchini noodles) with doctored up spaghetti sauce with onions, garlic, and fresh mushrooms.
